Academic Support Through the Excel Centers
All TRiO SSS students are encouraged to take advantage of the UCCS Excel Centers, which provide free academic support for all UCCS students. The Excel Centers are designed to help students reach their academic goals by developing problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, writing, language, and study skills. Students can receive support from trained peer tutors and access welcoming spaces to study, ask questions, and connect with other students.
You do not need a referral from TRiO to use the Excel Centers. Whether you need help preparing for an exam, improving your writing, strengthening math or science skills, or developing effective study strategies, you can visit an Excel Center whenever you need academic support.

Individual Tutoring Requests
TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) partners with the UCCS Excel Centers to provide individual tutoring for eligible students who need additional academic support.
If you believe you would benefit from working one-on-one with a tutor, you may submit an Individual Tutor Request Form. All requests are reviewed by TRiO SSS staff and approved based on demonstrated academic need, course availability, and tutor availability. Submitting a request does not guarantee a tutor assignment.
Tutor Session Summaries
TRiO SSS tutors are required to submit a Tutor Session Summary after each tutoring session. These summaries help TRiO staff track student participation, document the academic support provided, and ensure students are receiving the assistance they need to achieve their academic goals. Please complete the form as soon as possible after each tutoring session.
